Please, Mr. Postman

He's clinically insane. Admit it already.

"Absentee ballots are fine because you have to go through a precise process to get your voting privilege. Not so with Mail-Ins. Rigged Election!!!

Since American history is hardly taught in American schools any longer, I suppose that a little lesson on that subject might definitely be in order here.

First of all (and I'm stunned that this needs to be explained to some people) absentee ballots and mail-in ballots are the same damned thing. They're not mutually exclusive. They've been around since the Civil War when President Lincoln - at the urging of Theodore Roosevelt, Sr. (father of the future president) decided that it would be a good thing if the Union boys, fighting on battlefields all across the confederacy, should be able exert their right to have their precious ballots cast. It was a brave thing for old Abe to do. Many of those soldiers were not too happy about being away from their homes and families, facing death at every minute on almost every day, and it was not-at-all certain that they would support the commander-in-chief. They did. Lincoln would not have won reelection in 1864 without them.

So there you have it, class: mail-in/absentee ballots have been around for one-hundred and fifty-six years. The tradition has never been a problem before. Why all of the sudden has it become a problem in the year 2020? The truth of the matter is that  Donald Trump regularly casts his ballot by mail from Maralago, his private club in Florida - or wherever-the-hell in the world he happens to be on any given Election Day. In fact, the only time the demented old freak ever voted at a regular polling place was in 2016 when he was a candidate for president (photo-op, you know?) He doesn't usually lower himself to participate in democracy by getting in line with  the common and filthy masses. This is a man with privilege. Would one of his apologists please explain to me why voting-by-mail is  okay for him but not for the rest of us? It's called Hypocrisy on Parade.

Trump has been saying that if the mail-in process is allowed to go through, it will be months - maybe even years - before the result of the November election is known. He seems to be implying that he won't be able to vacate the White House - unless and until - the matter is settled. What this idiot is unaware of is the fact that - according to the Constitution of the United States - regardless of when the final tally comes in, if there is no clear winner on the scheduled day of the election, the office of the presidency is automatically turned over to the speaker of the House of Representatives on the day of the inauguration. It's as clear and as simple as that. And although I have more-than-a-few issues with her, I'll be able to sleep quite soundly at night knowing that President Pelosi is at the helm of the ship-of-state. Whatever happens as a result of the corruption of the process on a national level, I'm almost certain that it won't be quite so chaotic in her state of California. Call it a gut feeling if you will.

The Donald tells us that, thanks to the able brilliance of Governor Ron Desantis, Florida will be the only state in the union where mail-in ballots will be reliable. This tells me that the Sunshine State has already been thoroughly corrupted and that the fix is in - just as it was twenty years ago when the election was stolen from Al Gore by Governor Jeb Bush and the presidency was seized by his half-witted, frat boy brother from Crawford, Texas. Remember how nicely that worked out?

DeJoy
The current postmaster general is a political hack and Trump fundraiser named Louis DeJoy. His stated goal has been to do away with the American postal system as we know it and turn it over to private industry. That's what Trump has been doing since his first day in office: putting people at the head of government agencies whose sole purpose is to destroy those very agencies. This is what can only be described as conflicts-of-interest-on-steroids. These corrupt and incompetent bastards have already slowed our mail service down to a trickle of what it was before the Common-Pervert-from-Queens took office a mere three-and-a-half years ago. Don't be the least bit surprised if, by Election Day, they make an attempt to shut the entire postal system down completely. The day that the United States Post Office goes into private ownership will be the day the American Experiment is over. Keep voting Republican.

This is as bad as it's been since Abraham Lincoln sought to extend the voting franchise to servicemen fighting to preserve a union that seemed to be in the process of complete self-destruction. Even during the darkest days of Dubya, I never thought we'd come this close to totalitarianism. In fact, we're already there. On Election Day 2020, we can expect Trump's operatives to stage "incidents" in swing-state cities with heavy black populations that will give him an excuse to send his own private brown-shirts into those cities to crack down with violence and mandatory curfews. That's what Portland was all about: a grim harbinger of even nastier things to come. Keep your eyes open.

This is bad, folks.

Gee, wasn't this a really neat idea?
I'm sorry, I'll stop.
